Trust and answers.

How Mifan picks the places you swipe, how dietary labels work, what is real and what is a sample, and answers to the questions people ask first.

How picks are chosen

Built on trust, so we keep it honest.

  • No sign-up needed

Just tell us your name. No email, no password, nothing to download.

  • Dietary needs come first

Halal, Muslim-friendly, vegetarian, vegan and no-beef are hard filters. Labels come only from public sources. We make no allergy claims.

  • Clear about what's a sample

Places are real. While Mifan is a prototype, the reviews on cards are samples and say so, and photos show the dish, not the restaurant.

  • No paid rankings

Restaurants can't pay to show up in your deck or move up your picks.

  • Location only if you allow it

Distance uses your phone's location only when you say yes. Otherwise Mifan measures from NUS.

Two halal labels, never mixed up

  • Halal-certifiedlisted as MUIS-certified
  • Muslim-friendlyMuslim-owned or no pork or lard, not certified
FAQ

Before you ask.

Is Mifan free?

Yes. Mifan is free to use, with no subscription and no ads.

Do I need to sign up or download anything?

No. Tap Try Mifan, tell us your name, and you're in. It runs in your phone's browser. To keep it on your home screen, use Share then "Add to Home Screen" on iPhone, or the menu then "Install app" on Android.

How does swiping work?

You see one place at a time. Swipe right (or tap Save) if you'd eat there, left to pass, or down if you're not sure yet (it comes back later). Tap the card for the menu, directions and booking. Save 3 places and you get a match to choose from.

Who writes the reviews on the cards?

Each card has two short takes: one from a friend and one from a food influencer. While Mifan is a prototype, these are sample reviews, clearly marked "Sample review". The places themselves are real. You can also write your own review, with up to 3 photos, from any restaurant's details.

Can I decide with friends?

Yes. Start a group swipe in Chat. Everyone swipes the same places, and Mifan shows which one the group liked most, ready to book.

Can I trust the halal and dietary labels?

Mifan only labels a place halal-certified, Muslim-friendly, vegetarian or vegan when a public source says so, and uses those as hard filters. We make no allergy claims, so please check with the staff.

What happens to my data?

We record how the app is used (screens, swipes and taps) to study it for our NUS project. We only have your email if you choose to leave it for updates. It's never sold or used for ads.

Is this a real app?

It's a working prototype by NUS students. The restaurants are real Singapore places from public food guides. Reviews are samples, and booking requests are a demo: they aren't sent to restaurants yet.
